Kenya Gikirima - Espresso
espresso
This coffee comes from the highlands of Nyeri and Kirinyaga Counties in Kenya, one of the country's most renowned coffee-growing regions. At altitudes of 1,800–1,900 meters above sea level, the coffee plants grow slowly – favored by nutrient-rich volcanic soils, clear spring and river water, and a stable microclimate.
This coffee is produced as a community lot by numerous smallholder farmers, whose cherries are collected and processed at the Gikirima Washing Station. Here, individual craftsmanship combines with collaborative precision – an approach that stands for clarity, consistency, and traceability.
The result is a classic Kenyan washed coffee. Transparent, vibrant, and deeply rooted in its origins.
We can taste red currant, rosehip and black tea.
In the cup, this coffee reveals itself as clear, structured, and elegant . A lively, juicy acidity meets a delicate sweetness and a clean, lingering finish.
Conclusion: A precise coffee - fresh, balanced and typically Kenyan.

The farmers primarily cultivate the traditional Kenyan varieties SL 28 and SL 34 – varieties prized worldwide for their complexity, clarity, and vibrant acidity. Processing is centralized, structured, and adheres to strict quality standards, which are supported and continuously monitored by the cooperative.
